Last year in October we found out that Infiniti revealed their QX50 crossover in China featuring a long wheelbase and a 2.5-liter V6 but Nissan’s luxury division will also be showing the small SUV at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
The announcement just came in, Infiniti will debut the facelifted 2016 QX50 in New York, which means that there’s a high chance the luxury crossover will be based on the long-wheelbase version China received towards the end of 2014. In fact, Infiniti tells us that “the updated QX50 has a wheelbase increase of more than three inches, creating additional rear legroom and interior volume.” If they say so…
Anyway, judging by the looks of its Chinese peer, the facelifted Infiniti QX50 should get new spoiler design both at the front and rear as well as a fresh batch of alloy wheels and a more dominant stance. Don’t even try asking about performance figures because Infiniti are not disclosing any of those for now. However, the current model uses a 3.7-liter V6 good for 329 HP and 361 Nm (267 lb-ft) so this might be dragged under the facelifted version’s hood.
We also know that Chinese customers received a 2.5-liter V6, just like the Lexus IS 250, which delivers 235 HP managed via a 7-speed auto gearbox. We should find out more about the SUV in the coming days, but we’ll also keep you up-to-date with what happens in New York on April 1.
