On March 17, Hyundai will launch in India the i20 Active, a more rugged version of the i20 supermini, which is sold locally as the Elite i20.
Later on, the Hyundai i20 Active will likely arrive in Europe as well, as it was designed at Hyundai’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Described by the automaker as an “SUV looking car,” the i20 Active will sit between the i20 and the upcoming ix25 crossover.
The Hyundai i20 Active shares the chassis and the bodywork with the regular Elite i20, but adds SUV-like styling features such as the a new bumper, large circular fog lamps, headlamps with LED DRLs and and silver plastic skidpad. It also gets new alloy wheels, prominent roof rails and side skirts, as well as a higher ground clearance.
The rear end features a new bumper as well, a bigger spoiler, a silver skid plate and a shark fin antenna. For the interior, changes may include different color and trim combinations, as well as a new infotainment system.
Since it shares the platform with the Elite i20, the i20 Active is expected to feature the same engine options.
