With so many off-the-charts debuts competing for our attention at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, you may think we’d be happy to kick back at this point and focus on some of the smaller boutique manufacturers. But you’d be wrong. Witness: the GTA Spano from the Spanish Spania brand.
Lest you think such hot-ticket items as the new Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT or Ferrari 488 were the headliners of in Geneva, we’ll let Spania itself remind you that its new coupe is the real star of the show:
“Today Spania GTA was the main focal point at the prestigious Geneva Motorshow with the worldwide launching of the GTA Spano … The supersportcar was the leading feature among international media and professionals of the sector on the first day of this Swiss fair.”
Right. Delusions of grandeur aside, the GTA Spano is actually a pretty cool car. Inside its composite monocoque, which the automaker claims is the first of its kind to use graphene, sits a twin-turbo, 8.0-liter V10 engine that we’re sure was procured from Dodge. In this modified form, the Viper-based engine spits out 925 horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed sequential gearbox sends all those ponies to the rear wheels, allowing a 0-62 mile-per-hour run of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 230 mph.
By way of comparison, this new GTA Spano is quite a bit more powerful, faster and, we think, better looking than the last version that we covered in Geneva. Have a look yourself in our high-res image gallery, above.
