Franck Montagny has been given a two-year ban from motorsport after failing a drug test following the Putrajaya Formula E race last November.
The sometime Super Aguri Formula 1 driver was given a provisional suspension following the test result pending an FIA hearing, the result of which has now been published by motorsport’s governing body.
It confirmed that Montagny had violated article 2.1 of the FIA’s anti-doping regulations by testing positive for cocaine derivative Benzoylecgonine.
He has been suspended from competition until December 23 2016 and disqualified from the 15th-place finish he achieved in the Malaysian FE race.
Montagny had finished second in the inaugural FE race in Beijing last year for Andretti Autosport.
