A- A+
If you followed BMW’s activity in the last few years you might’ve noticed their inclination to occupy every possible niche out there. If Audi or Mercedes-Benz have a model that isn’t directly rivaled by one of theirs, the Munichers are quick to respond.
It was the case of the 2 Series Active Tourer, the 6 Series Gran Coupe and so on. Speaking of the 6 Series Gran Coupe, in a recent interview for Autovisie, BMW’s vice-president that is taking care of midsize and large models, Markus Baur, said that the company he represents has no plans to further expand the 6 Series range. In other words: forget about a 6 Series Shooting Brake.
That was basically the one model they didn’t have in their line-up to go up against the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake. Admittedly, Audi doesn’t have one either but that never stopped BMW before from developing a new car.
However, it would seem like all this investment in new models is starting to show its wear and things aren’t looking all that bright in Munich at the moment.
