Toyota Motor Sales USA announced that it will conduct a new recall campaign on around 112,500 US vehicles due to possible safety issues.
Here comes another flat tire for Toyota as its United States arm will be recalling 2,500 RAV4 EV cars built between 2012 and 2014, along with 110,000 Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles (model year 2015) plus another batch of RAV4 EVs (model year 2014-2015).
According to Toyota, components in the RAV4 EV vehicles may cause the car to shift to ‘Neutral’ due to a software malfunction. As it affects the Electric Vehicle Traction Motor Assembly – in English, the car’s propulsion system – this condition will also trigger a ‘Check EV System’ warning notification on the instrument panel.
In a nutshell, if the vehicle shifts to ‘Neutral’, the car will experience a loss in drive power which makes a crash more likely to happen.
