Now, this is an idea the house of Iwata could really pick up and transform into really cool, pure limited edition gold: special liveries for the all-new 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 superbikes, evoking the glory of the past and two of the biggest names in the brand’s history, Kenny Roberts and Giacomo Agostini.
While Oberdan Bezzi has gotten us used to renderings which depict various degrees of engineering changes made to existing motorcycles, the two bikes after the jump are basic color manipulation… and this makes them projects which are feasible. All it takes is Yamaha top brass making a bold decision to reach an agreement with the two legends and deliver these interesting options.
Yellow and the black “speed blocks” are the unmistakable sigil of road racing performance
If anything, the yellow-black-white livery with the three “speed blocks” in their various shapes represent one of the most iconic designs which speak about Yamaha’s racing heritage and success. Made famous by Kenny Roberts (Sr.) in the ‘70s, the yellow Yamaha livery has become a synonym of high-performance in the two-wheeled world and lucky customers have been able to claw such bikes in the past years.
